Los Angeles, CA – United Fabrics International, Inc., a Vernon-based fashion company represented by Doniger / Burroughs partner Scott A. Burroughs and associate Trevor W. Barrett, has prevailed at the summary judgment stage in its copyright infringement case against Wilsons Leather.
Wilsons Leather was marketing and selling an entire line of handbags and wallets that bore a design that United Fabrics alleged was copied from a proprietary United Fabrics design. The Honorable Otis D. Wright II reviewed the parties’ summary judgment motions, and ruled that Wilsons Leather was indeed liable for violating the U.S. Copyright Act., and entered judgment on the issue of liability against Wilsons Leather and in favor of United Fabrics.
The case will now proceed to trial on the issue of damages.
