Copyright Law Under a Microscope – Doniger / Burroughs Prosecutes Claim for Renowned Photographer

Venice, CA –  Doniger / Burroughs has filed a federal action on behalf of acclaimed technical photographer Andrew Leonard. The firm filed the action against a high-profile plastic surgeon that engaged in the unauthorized use of Mr. Leonards’ groundbreaking electron microscope photo of a human stem cell. This plastic surgeon exploited Mr. Leonard’s proprietary photograph without his authorization to market her “stem cell facelift” procedure, and violated the Copyright Act in the process.

Upon filing the case, firm partner Stephen M. Doniger said: “Every photographer has a right to control the use of his or her work. Even microscopic subject matter can result in a serious and substantial claim.”

Mr. Leonard is represented by Stephen M. Doniger and Howard S. Han of Doniger / Burroughs.
