Pasadena, CA – The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled today in a long-simmering copyright infringement case arising out of the alleged copying of jewelry designs created and owned by a Doniger / Burroughs client. The district court had ruled in favor of the alleged infringer, finding that the jewelry pieces were not legally similar. The 9th Circuit, though, granted the appeal filed by Doniger / Burroughs, finding that the district court’s ruling was erroneous, reversing its decision, and remanding the case for trial.
Scott Alan Burroughs, Esq. of Doniger / Burroughs argued for appellant.
Robert Helfing, Esq. of Sedgwick LLP argued for appellee.
